Made from the smallest economy car Ford sells in the US, the Fiesta ST is a race car for your daily commute. In the ST version, Ford has put a 1.6 l. turbo four that makes 197 HP, along with a 6-speed manual transmission and a very sport-tuned suspension. Riding on 205/40ZR-17 summer-only tires, this car rides stiff, turns flat with what feels like no body lean, responds to every movement of the wheel with alacrity, and goes like stink. Turn-in is aggressive, and the back end comes around tidily. You don't feel the typical FWD understeer, and the overall feel is like a powerful go-kart. Ours is equipped with the optional heated Recaro seats, which are aggressively bolstered and do not allow you to be thrown from side to side. There's not a lot of excessive tech on display but the Sync 3 is functional and has a good Navigation system. The car has no electronic nannies trying to tell me how to drive, which I love. Unfortunately, this was the last of the line as Ford is discontinuing all cars except the Mustang after this year, so get one while the few remaining cars are available. You won't find a zippier, more maneuverable car to put a smile on your face anywhere.
